And the steakhouse anchor a few doors down is Rare Society, Trust Restaurant Group's first North County venue, second location of Rare Society after its University Heights flagship, a throwback high-glamour steakhouse led by chef/owner Brad Wise. Wise's kitchen also runs Trust and Fort Oak, which is worth knowing if you have visitors coming and want to explain why the room feels like something transplanted from Mission Hills.

The pattern to notice: five independent operators, all within an eight-minute walk of Fletcher Cove, all opened or announced since the last World Cup cycle. That is what turns a concert into an evening.
